Brentwood… One Word… Chic.
Whether you’re a professional moving to the area or a family being transferred due to work, you will probably find yourself borrowing a "cup of sugar" from your neighbor that just happens to be a celebrity.
Brentwood is the gorgeous bedroom community of the "stars"! This neighborhood, or "district" as they call it, has more famous people per square mile than most of its surrounding constituents.
Why? Because it’s a beautiful area, divided by Sunset Blvd, that’s close to everything, yet somewhat "far" from the glitz and glam of nearby West Hollywood and Beverly Hills. North of Sunset Blvd, you have the more mountainous and canyon type landscape, allowing for stunning homes on the hill with spectacular views, …whereas south of Sunset, you will find it to be more flat and structured, like a typical planned community.
Brentwood is just that, a community, with approximately 42,000 residents, all of whom strive for a "normal" home life while oftentimes living rather "extraordinary" work lives. They hunger for "normalcy" and Brentwood "fills the bill"… You will often see the locals just hanging around the historic Brentwood Country Mart, which sticks out like a sore thumb with its highly recognizable "red barn" exterior. This is the place where you can shop at exclusive boutiques for jewelry, clothes or chocolate, get your shoes fixed, get a shave and haircut in a real barber chair (men!), mail some letters at the local post office and buy some flowers to take home for the table… …all the while, grabbing the supposed "best rotisserie chicken and fries" in all of Los Angeles at the renowned Reddi Chick for lunch!
Enjoying it in their open air courtyard is just frosting on the cake… Let’s just say, that it’s a very popular and enjoyable hangout for all Brentwood residents.
So, you’re thinking about Brentwood… well, don’t get confused with the more than 20 neighborhoods within the Brentwood district, and certainly, clarify to anyone who asks, that the "real" Brentwood in California is in Los Angeles! (It seems that there’s a little place – also with around 45,000 people - called "Brentwood, California" in the East San Francisco Bay Area…)
Most of the neighborhoods here have "Brentwood" in their name, in combination with "Park", "Highlands", "Glen", "Heights", "Hills", "Flats", "Country Estates", "Circle" or "Terrace", just to name a few… as well, many neighborhoods also have "Canyon" in their name coupled with "Bundy", "Kenter" and "Mandeville" just to name a few more… Brentwood, the district itself, acquired its name from "Brentwood" of Essex in England and the British influence is alive and well as noted in its British street names and English shops…
As well, Brentwood is encapsulated by popular jaunts on all sides… you can scoot north to the Santa Monica Mountains for a hike through its canyons… west to the upscale Santa Monica area for a healthy jog along the beach or east to Westwood or Beverly Hills for a day of incredible shopping… And don’t forget one of the most spectacular art venues in all of California, the billion dollar Getty Museum, is set high in the hills just above beautiful Brentwood…
What more could you ask for?
Whether considering its convenient access to the 405 freeway, including three prominent exits into Brentwood, or the quality of its public school system… Whether you want to go for a private jog along the exclusive Brentwood Country Club or frequent the Barrington Recreation Center which includes activities such as soccer, tennis and baseball for the kids, as well as an active community center for the adults… You cannot go wrong in selecting Brentwood as your place to call "Home"…
